Arm Lift

An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a plastic surgery procedure that reshapes the contour of the upper arm by removing excess skin and fat. Fluctuations in weight, aging and even genetics can cause your upper arms to have a droopy, sagging appearance.

Exercise may strengthen and improve the underlying muscle tone of the upper arm, but it will never remove the excess skin that has lost its elasticity or remove localized fat deposits.

The planned incision for an arm lift depends on the amount of excess skin needing to be removed. Common incisions are placed on the lower border of the medial, upper arm. Often, in order to achieve the desired result, the incision will extend from the armpit to the level of the elbow. In special circumstances, the incision may be shorter or able to be hidden within the armpit. Liposuction is often used to help contour the arm during your arm lift.

Depending on the planned incision, a drain may be used. This will typically be removed at your first post operative appointment. At conclusion of surgery, your arms will be gently compressed with a wrap or special garment to reduce swelling and discomfort.
